“The Wall that Heals” officially opened on Ohio University’s campus on September 14, 2017 as a symbol of recognition for those who served and lost their lives in the Vietnam War. The wall was set up at Bicentennial Park in Athens, Ohio and was a replica half the size of the wall in Washington, D.C. “The Wall that Heals” is approximately 250 feet in length with 24 individual panels. The wall was designed by Athens local, Maya Lin, who also attended Ohio University. Athens was one of forty communities to participate in the wall’s tour.
