This week on the gridiron the Athens Bulldogs travel to Vinton County to do battle with the Vikings.

Vinton County is coming into this week after a close loss at Meigs dropped its record to 1-3, while Athens is riding high at 3-1 after its 48-0 drubbing of Alexander last week.

In last year’s matchup at Athens, the Bulldogs cruised to an easy 63-14 win over the Vikings.

The Vikings need to clean up their offensive play and hammer down on the defensive side if they want any chance to overcome these rabid Bulldogs. Quarterback Naylan Yates needs to come out strong for the Vikings and set the tempo early for the offense.

On the visitors side, Athens just simply needs to keep doing what they’re doing. Their offense is firing on all cylinders right now. Treyce Albin seems to find a big score every week and this Bulldogs defense is coming off an outing where they held Alexander to only 71 total yards.

The action kicks off on Friday at 7:30 at Vinton County.
