The first Ohio AP Poll had four teams in Gridiron Glory’s coverage, last week had two and now it’s down to just one: the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes.

Nelsonville-York (5-0) moved up four spots to Division VI No. 6 in the poll voted on by a panel of writers and broadcasters.

The Buckeyes defeated the then-undefeated Waverly Tigers 38-13 on Friday. Waverly was No. 11 in Division IV before the loss. Beating an undefeated team two divisions up helped the Buckeyes earn more votes and will be vital for points in the computer rankings.

What’s in store for the Buckeyes this week? A road meeting with the Meigs Marauders, which is in Nelsonville-York’s favor. A win should improve on Nelsonville-York’s 99 points in the poll.

Meigs (3-2) is another Division IV team and a win over the Marauders is another resume builder for the Buckeyes.

No. 5 Shenandoah is 10 points up on Nelsonville-York, after that the divide deepens.

Smithville is ranked as No. 4 with 144 points. The top team in the state is No. 1 Marion Local. The Flyers have 240 points and 20 first place votes.
