River Valley to Defend Streak Over Wellston

After losing the last two seasons to the River Valley Raiders, the Wellston Golden Rockets will look to halt their losing streak when they face the Raiders at home.

This week, the River Valley Raiders (2-3) are on the road to take on TVC-Ohio opponent, the Wellston Golden Rockets (3-2). Wellston is coming off a blowout win against Alexander last week, winning 50-7, while the Raiders fell to Meigs 45-28.

The Golden Rockets offense took off after only scoring six points the week before against Portsmouth West.

Running back Travis Jayjohn is the big player to watch in this offense. A big game from the All-TVC running back could lead to a lot of points scored for the second straight week by the Golden Rockets offense.

The Wellston defense could be key for them, but they have been a defense that looks good one week, and then struggles the next. In Wellston’s three wins, the defense averages giving up about 7.3 points per game, but in their two losses, the Golden Rockets allowed 33 points per game.

The success of the River Valley offense is all in Patrick Brown’s hands. The senior quarterback is everything to this offense, as he runs the ball just as well as he throws it. He will need his receivers to make some plays and may need a bit more of a running game. They will need to score plenty of points to keep up with the Wellston offense.

The defense for the Raiders will continue to try and force turnovers as they have done all season. If the defense can contain the Wellston offense, this could be a close game.
