What kind of person sets their Christmas tree only a couple of days after Thanksgiving?

A celebratory and truly great person, that’s who.

Such dedication to merriment is being celebrated this weekend by the Peoples Bank Theatre in Marietta via their very first Christmas tree auction, slated for Sunday, Nov. 26 at 3 p.m.

The event is ultimately a fundraiser for the Hippodrome/Colony Historical Theatre Association, which works to preserve the historic home of the Peoples Bank Theatre, as well as provide quality performing arts programming to Southeast Ohio.

“Honestly, if you look at any city or town, most places have some type of Christmas tree auction going on during the holiday season,” said Chuck Swaney, the Theatre Manager at Peoples Bank Theatre. “It’s just naturally a part of the holidays, and when one of our volunteers, who is also a local auctioneer, mentioned a fundraiser like this, it just made sense.”

A wide variety of area businesses and organizations have donated trees to the auction, making for a deliciously diverse selection of festive evergreens to choose from.

The trees will be on display throughout the week at the Peoples Bank Theatre. Check out the photos of some of the trees, below.
