The State of the Union Address is scheduled to take place Tuesday, January 30 from 9:00 – 11:00 pm.

President Donald Trump is scheduled to give his first State of the Union address on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, to a joint session of Congress. One year into the Trump administration, the Speaker of the House has extended the traditional invitation to the president to “take account of the progress we have made” and “lay out the work that still remains to be done.”

On WOUB-TV, the event will be a PBS NEWSHOUR Special Event.  The live coverage will include the president’s speech, the Democratic response, and analysis from the PBS NEWSHOUR team.

On WOUB-FM, NPR News will offer live special coverage of the president’s speech and the Democratic Party response. The coverage will begin at 9:00 PM on Tuesday, January 30. We do not know how long the President plans to speak or what time the Democratic Response will begin, exactly. Typically, the response occurs five minutes after the President exits the chamber. The special will then continue with analysis until 11:00 PM.

Special Coverage of the State of the Union address and the Democratic Party Response will be hosted by Ari Shapiro and Mary Louise Kelly. Also joining coverage will be: National Political Correspondent Mara Liasson, Congressional Correspondent Susan Davis, Senior Editor and Correspondent Ron Elving and White House Correspondent Scott Horsley.
