Last week students, faculty and families visited Ohio University’s Walter Hall to see a fashion show. Most visitors believed they were going to watch models strut down the runway; however, Unchained Organization had a larger message within the event.

Stephanie Catani, Co-founder of Unchained, incorporated her love of fashion, with her love of story telling to create a unique way to tell the stories of survivors of human trafficking.

Unchained is a non-profit organization based out of Columbus, Ohio. Their overall goal is to spread knowledge about human trafficking and empower the youth to see the signs and know how to fight against it.

According to Unchained Organization, an estimate 20.9 million people are enslaved in human trafficking across the world.

Athens is one of the many stops for Unchained. The organization averages 35 shows around the United States each year.
