It makes a lot of sense that The Gories’ critically lauded 1989 debut, “House Rockin’,” was crafted in the very same city that claims the likes of The MC5, The Stooges, and Smokey Robinson as its native sons. Although the band disbanded in 1992 after a European tour, they reformed in 2009, and thanks to that, the 2018 Nelsonville Music Festival will feature the legendary garage band on Saturday, June 2.

WOUB’s Emily Votaw spoke to Kroha about the beauty of top 40 pop, the early days of the outfit, and performing on the same festival billing as George Clinton.

A photo of The Gories before their initial disbandment in 1992. One look at them, and it just makes sense that Alex Chilton would want to produce their second full length “I Know You Fine, But How You Doin?” (Submitted)
