ZCT to Open 56th Season With ‘Of Mice and Men’
< < Back toThe Zanesville Community Theatre will open their 56th season this weekend with the award-winning drama, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Directed by Phil Palmer, assisted by Val Gahagen, the play is based on Steinbeck’s novel of the same title. Performances will be held on Fridays and Saturdays, September 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 8 p.m. There will be two Sunday matinees September 16 and 23 at 2:30 p.m.
Of Mice and Men is the story of two drifters during the Dust Bowl years of the 1930s. George will be played by Albert Brown and his companion, Lennie, will be played by Kevin McCarthy. As these two travel aimlessly, hoping to “live off the fat of the land”, they encounter others, ultimately with tragic results. Those others include John Lowe as Candy, Jan Smith as The Boss, Scott Robison as Curly, Monica Van Nort as Curly’s Wife, Lew Woodward as Slim, Daniel Warne as Carlson, Jay Shaffstall and Steve Stewart as Crooks. The play does use some adult language and situations.
The Zanesville Community Theatre is located in the McIntire Historic District, at 940 Findley Ave, and is fully handicapped accessible. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, military and students, and $5 for youth age 12 and younger.
