Philo (2-1) was able to defeat conference foe John Glenn (1-2) last year in the regular season (28-17) however they will be looking for revenge because the Little Muskies ended their season in blowout fashion (38-7) to advance to the state final 4 last season.

John Glenn (1-2) has started off slow this season, after only losing 2 regular season games all of last season, the Muskies have already matched that total 3 weeks into the season. It was going to be hard to repeat last seasons unbelievable run to the state semifinals as a 5 seed, but John Glenn has not gotten off to the start they had hoped for.

The Muskies offense is led by WR Joseph Clifford, QB Evan Williams, and RB Brady Emerson. Clifford had 3 scores against Meadowbrook in the season opening overtime loss. Williams has thrown 2 touchdown passes and scored the only touchdown for the Muskies against Sheridan with a rushing score. Emerson had two touchdowns against Cambridge and another score against Meadowbrook, this balanced attack has helped the Little Muskies average 26 PPG.

Philo (2-1) is in a familiar situation, as last season they started off the same way, losing their opening contest before 2 huge wins over Crooksville and West Muskingum. Their only loss wasn’t a poor effort either, as Philo went on the road against West Jefferson and lost 21-16. West Jefferson is a quality opponent, as they made a regional final after an unbeaten regular season.

Philo’s offense has been explosive so far this season, averaging over 40 points per game so far despite losing offensive stars like QB Isaac Gill and WR Cole Smith to graduation. Junior QB Hunter Adolph has taken over under center and hasn’t missed a beat, throwing 4 touchdowns while rushing 1 in himself. Casey Munyan leads the rushing attack and has 2 rushing touchdowns and 2 receiving in his Sophomore season.

Philo should be confident coming into this MVL battle as they haven’t lost to John Glenn in the regular season since 2014, however the Electrics cannot be overconfident as John Glenn ended their season last year with a huge playoff victory.
