It’s Homecoming week on Ohio University’s campus Monday, October 15 through Saturday, October 20, and there are a wide range of celebratory events taking place all week long. The penultimate moment of celebration will come on Saturday, October 20, when the annual Homecoming parade will make its way from West Union Street to the University Terrace. The parade will reflect the 2018 Homecoming theme, an “Athens State of Mind.”

For the sixth year in a row, WOUB will be live streaming the event starting at 10 a.m. EDT. 2018 marks the second year that WOUB has been able to provide two concurrent streams of the event for alumni who are missing Ohio University; one of them a traditional multi-camera stream (available at this link) and one of them an immersive 360-degree stream (available at this link) made possible by collaboration with the Scripps College of Communication’s Immersive Media Initiative.

“If you’re using your mouse on your desktop or your finger on your mobile device, you should be able to see about 270-degrees from College Street, around Court Street, around Union Street, and even back towards the monument, which is pretty amazing,” said Michael Rodriguez, the Director of Production Services and Student Development at WOUB, who has led WOUB’s efforts to stream the parade in various ways over the past six years. “We want to provide a greater variety of viewing options for the parade, as (Homecoming) is a pretty big event for the university and for the community. A lot of alums don’t get to come back for Homecoming, and this is our way of offering a way to connect with Ohio University.”
