Scotties Look North Towards Playoff Face Off Against Barberton
< < Back toThe Tri-Valley Scotties (9-1) will have a long drive up I-77 for a Friday night playoff battle against the Barberton Magics (10-0) in the first round of the postseason.
The Scotties, fresh off a victory over Maysville which clinched an MVL conference title (shared with the Sheridan Generals), are led by senior quarterback Luke Fargus, who totaled two passing touchdowns in Tri-Valley’s week ten game against the Panthers. The Scotties as a whole have fielded a prolific offense, scoring 36.9 points per game.
But the most impressive part of the Scottie’s regular season was their defense, which surrendered a paltry 8.6 points per game while recording an MVL-best four shutouts.
The Barberton Magics, located in the Akron metropolitan area, are no slouches themselves, having won the Suburban-American Conference championship outright, and recording an average of 38.5 points per game with an offense that on paper would appear even more explosive than Tri-Valley’s.
Barberton has home field advantage and as such may be favored, but all indications point to this being a shootout, and while the Scotties have held their opponents to less than nine point per game, the Magics cannot say the same, surrendering over two touchdowns per contest on average. While both teams have playmakers on the offensive side of the ball it may be the defenses which decide the victor on Friday
