On Wednesday, December 5, director Megan Griffiths will bring her sixth full-length film, the critically acclaimed Sadie, to the Athena Cinema (20 South Court Street, Athens) for a screening that will start at 7 p.m. and that will be followed by a Q&A. Sadie explores the emotionally volatile inner world of a 13-year-old girl whose father has been absent from the life that she and her mother have been living for several years due to serving multiple tours in Afghanistan. When Sadie perceives that her mother has found a love interest outside of her father, who has been absent from his marriage for years, she is outraged. The film premiered at SXSW 2018, and received the Gryphon Jury Award at the 2018 Giffoni Film Festival.
