NELSONVILLE (WOUB) – Hocking College is hoping to get a new home field for its football team in Nelsonville.

President Betty Young says the school is working on an official proposal for the Parks and Recreation Council to move the team’s home field from Boston Field to Polley Field.

Under the proposed plan, the College would pay for renovations to Polley Field, including the baseball and softball fields which is currently home to a summer youth baseball program. Other improvements could include a new digital scoreboard and upgrades to the bleachers.

Young says moving the team’s home field closer to campus has always been a goal for the college. The team currently plays its home games at Nelsonville-York High School’s Boston Field.

“We have a great relationship with our community and want to continue that,” said Young. “And so, this would be a way for us to give back a little bit by improving the facility there. And then providing activities for the community by having our games here.”

Hocking College also hopes the improvements will attract more students to the school.
