Benefest, an annual fundraiser supporting local non-profits The Gathering Place and Stuart’s Opera House Afterschool Music Program, returns to The Union this December.

WLCI and the Hocking College Music Management program works with The Gathering Place and Stuart’s Opera House Afterschool Music Program to present Benefest, a benefit concert held annually at The Union. This year, it takes place on December 6 and 7. The event raises funds and awareness for the non-profit organizations involved.

Stuart’s Afterschool Music Program (AMP) is an After School rock ‘n’ roll music program that supports and fosters young men and women who are interested in learning how to play a variety of instruments and form bands. AMP provides crucial out-of-school arts enrichment that incorporates musical components with other artistic disciplines.

The Gathering Place is a non-profit community support program promoting recovery for adults coping with mental illness. Services are designed to enrich and empower each individual so that s(he) can create a meaningful and joyful life. Staff and members work together to provide peer support, linkage services, advocacy, mental health education, recreational and wellness activities, access to healthy food, and community integration opportunities, all in a safe, home-like atmosphere.

The festivities begin at 8 p.m. both Friday and Saturday nights this weekend (Dec. 6 & 7) and will be held at The Union. There is a $5 suggested donation, but folks are encouraged to donate what they can.

Performers include:

Gorilla Party
