THE PLAINS, Ohio- Gearing up for conference play, the Athens Bulldogs hosted the Warren Warriors Monday night. From the start the Lady Warriors took control of the game, leading 31-7 at halftime and cruising to a 61-18 victory.

The Bulldogs had a tough time defending the Warriors because everyone on the team was contributing. The Warriors scored 61 points and no one on the team got into double digits scoring individually.

But the Lady Bulldogs didn’t back down one bit, fighting hard on defense and coming up with multiple steals. In the second half of the game the Warriors came out with the same intensity and efficiency in scoring, but the Bulldogs turned it up.

Making space against the zone with great ball movement, the Lady Bulldogs improved their offense drawing multiple fouls and even getting some open opportunities from three. But the great ball movement didn’t come without a price. Athens, in trying to move the ball quickly, had lots of unforced, and forced errors leading to easy buckets from Warren.

In the end, the Athens Lady Bulldogs fought hard, but just couldn’t keep up with the Lady Warriors. The game ended 61-18 as the Warriors ultimately defeated the Bulldogs. Next, Athens goes on the road to McClain to try and get things rolling before conference play.
