BELPRE, Ohio- A night where one milestone stole the show as Eastern’s Garrett Barringer hits 1,000 points in his career as an Eagle. On top of the milestone for the individual, the Eastern Eagles dominated Friday night at Belpre to take down the Golden Eagles 64-48.

The man of the night, Garrett Barringer co-led the team in points with 19 points. He was dominating the paint all-night shooting 5-for-5 in the paint.

“It means a lot for me. Growing up as a little kid, I’ve always loved basketball and have been playing my entire life,” Eastern senior Garrett Barringer said. “I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, the four years I’ve been here they’ve loved me, supported me every step of the way. I don’t have a brother, but they’ve been exactly what a brother is to me.”

Belpre’s physicality didn’t halt Eastern as the Eagles that aren’t golden led for the majority of the game and began to run away with it in the fourth.

“[Eastern] came out with good energy on defense, we forced them to turn over the ball. Then, we got some really good looks early,” Eastern’s head coach David Kight said. “We finished on one end and guarded on the other really well.”

Colton Reynolds returned to the court for the Eastern Eagles and he started right where he left off as he scored 19 points with four rebounds.

As Eastern has two games remaining in the season, they’ve been heating up as the Eagles have won five of their last six.

“If anytime is a good time is a good time to get hot it’s right before the tournament. [Eastern] knew this was a big game,” Barringer said. “We’re 10-10 now and was able to fire on all cylinders against Belpre. Now we have two important games coming up and we want to be clicking going into the tournament, so we can hit our final goal of being able to cut down a net.”

Eastern will return to Reedsville coming off a momentum-building win to match-up against Federal Hocking.

Be. Heroic.
