Nelsonville, Ohio (WOUB) – Portions of Wayne National Forest will not accept visitors due to physical distancing guidelines.
To discourage crowds and the possible spread of COVID-19, the forest’s developed campgrounds, restroom facilities, and trash receptacles will not be open to the public.

According to a press release, group-use recreation areas at Leith Run in the Athens Ranger District in Washington County, and Lake Vesuvius, including Oak Hill, Iron Ridge, and Pine Knob Campgrounds and Two Points Group Campground in the Ironton Ranger District in Lawrence County are temporarily shut down.  Officials say refunds will be issued for any cancelled reservations.

Trails for Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs), mountain bikes, and horseback riding that were to open on April 15th will now stay closed until further notice.

Hiking trails are still open and the forest service says boat ramps will stay open as long as the groups remain small.
