Hundreds of items were distributed

MILLERSBURG, OH – During a “Back to School” season like no other, WOUB Public Media’s Learning Lab is working to make sure students in our region are ready for whatever may happen.  Wearing a mask and armed with WOUB backpacks and headphones, Educational Engagement Consultant Lori Pringle distributed those items to students and their families at the Holmes County Back to School bash last week.

WOUB Book Bag“Whether children are attending school in person or online, they still need school supplies to stay organized and on track,” said Pringle. “It was great to see the children’s eyes light up when I handed them the backpack and headphones.”

The Learning Lab gave out 100 book bags and more than 200 headphones. Pringle also distributed information about how WOUB is supporting At-Home Learning for teachers and parents this school year.

“As the pandemic continues, students, teachers and parents need additional tools to instruct children if they can’t be in the classroom,” said WOUB Educational Services Manager Deborah Brewer. “WOUB is providing television programming on several of its digital channels that line up with educational learning objectives across all age groups and providing access to additional resources to help students continue to learn if they have to be at home.”

“PBS and WOUB have always been a valuable, trusted educational tool for children,” said Pringle. “Parents and teachers are glad to know that it is a place they can turn to for help during this unconventional school year.”
