Artist Profile: Sun Boats

Zack Shafer, Sam Debatin, and Harper Reese all grew up in Athens. That local spirit comes through in their music as the country trio Sun Boats, but their silky smooth harmonies and skilled guitarism reach out beyond just Appalachian roots and echo a broader American music style, as well as something all their own. I had the opportunity to speak with Sun Boats about songwriting, country music and how they’re handling the challenges of being musicians during the COVID-19 pandemic.
