Weekly Virtual Conversations Begin on September 1

ATHENS, OH – International News Consultant Doug Drew will kick off the Fall Semester 2021 WOUB Wednesday series on September 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET. WOUB Wednesdays is a program that gives former WOUB students the opportunity to conduct a virtual conversation with current students and other alumni. The speaker talks about their career experiences and takes questions from those in attendance. Drew worked at WOUB from 1974 to 1978 while he was a student at Ohio University.

WOUB Wednesdays are a great way to provide students the opportunity to talk with industry professionals virtually,” said WOUB Director of Student Professional Development Michael Rodriguez.

Drew will talk to students about his career since graduating from Ohio University in 1978 and the lessons he has learned about how to be successful. Drew has had a wide-ranging broadcast television career which included time as an on-air reporter, a behind-the-scenes producer and a news consultant. His first job was as a TV reporter in Flagstaff, Arizona, and he was promoted to news director at the station. Drew left there for a news producer position in Tucson, where he learned that he wanted to stay on the management side of television news. Then he worked as a producer, executive producer and assistant news director at several other television stations before becoming a news consultant. Now Drew has his own consulting firm, Douglas Drew Media, and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“Throughout fall semester, we have several former WOUB students scheduled to talk with current students and alumni,” said WOUB Community Engagement Manager Cheri Russo. “The former students are excited to share what they have learned out in the industry with current and former WOUB students.”

The virtual discussions will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. throughout the semester and are open to all current and former WOUB students as well as WOUB staff. Those interested can register at  bit.ly/WOUBWednesday  Registration is required for each session.
