STEWART, Ohio (WOUB) – The Federal Hocking Lancers looked to pick up their first win of the season on Friday as they hosted the Millersport Lakers. The Lakers picked up their first win in four years last week as they haven’t fielded a team since 2017.

This game was pure chaos out of the gate. On the opening kickoff, the Lancers gave it right to Millersport as they fumbled deep in their own territory.

An unfortunate turnover clearly did not discourage the Lancer defense. Only two plays later, Federal Hocking got the ball back recovering a Laker fumble of their own.

Millersport was able to strike first with 8:34 left in the first quarter as senior tailback Mason Reynolds pounded it in from ten yards out on a physical run.

For much of the first half, the Millersport run defense stood dominant against the Lancer rushing attack. But, Federal Hocking quarterback Tyler Rogers and his offense were able to get it going through the air as he connected with A.J. Daniels on a deep shot to tie this game up.

First quarter scoring was far from over in this Division VII matchup as both the Lakers and the Lancers were able to find the end zone again and convert on separate two-point conversions to make it a 14-14 ballgame headed into the second quarter.

After another Laker rushing touchdown, Federal Hocking looked to answer once again. But this time down the field, it would be Laker defensive back Cody Blosser with the pick-six to extend their lead to two scores.

The Lakers would carry this 29-14 lead into the half after a slew of turnovers put these offenses to a temporary halt.

Millersport came out hot in the second half, scoring two touchdowns right out of the gate to give themselves a demanding 45-14 lead with just over four minutes to play in the third quarter.

A 31-point deficit did not phase the Lancers as they entered the fourth quarter.

Tyler Rogers put the team on his back late in this one as the Federal Hocking offense went on to score 24 unanswered points to put them right back in position to strike, down 38-45 with 1:37 left to play.

The Lancers were not able to bring it all the way back as this valiant effort was put to bed by Father Time.

As Millersport picks up an exciting second win of the season, Federal Hocking is left winless and heartbroken.

The narrative of this matchup is far from over though as these two teams will get to battle it out again in two weeks as the Lancers will travel to Millersport this time for round two of this exciting matchup
