BELPRE, Ohio (WOUB) — Eastern got back on the right foot with a nail biter win over the Belpre Golden Eagles on Thursday night 44-35.

Sydney Reynolds led the way for the Eagles with 21 points shooting, 7/15 from the field, and 2/2 from three point land.

Free throws were the story of the game for Eastern going a solid 10/12 from the line in the final two minutes of the game with Reynolds going 5/6 , Erica Durst 3/4, and Juli Durst going 2/2.

Routines being a major part of free throws Reynolds said “I normally dribble the ball twice and then come up and take a breath because that’s what Steph Curry used to do when I was a little kid and I decided to mimic that.”

Eastern also won the crucial rebound battle ending the game +5 in the category. Coach Reynoldes stated “Unfortunately for Belpre tonight they were missing their big. (Halee Williams) She had surgery today which in the last game was a big matchup difference for us. Without her tonight we matched up better. Belpre is a physical team so you have to grind it out, box out, and not take a possession off. Tonight for the most part we were able to do that.”

In the previous match up Eastern was also able to win in another close game 42-41 being led by other star Junior Erica Durst.

Eastern hopes to extend their win streak as they travel to take on Wellston on Tuesday.
