Nelsonville-York Lady Buckeyes fly past River Valley as they close in on playoffs

NELSONVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) — The River Valley Raiders (5-11) hit the roads to play the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes (10-9).

The game got off to a slow start offensively but the Buckeyes despite the shooting issues were leading 11-8 at the end of the first.

The second quarter was still a slow offensive game for the Buckeyes, as entering halftime they were shooting 31%.

The second half once again was a huge one for the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes improved greatly; they started to get hot and left the third quarter up 45-23.

The Buckeyes in the fourth still was heating up as they were moving the ball better and were getting several shots off of assists.

Although this game was not the greatest offensively for the Buckeyes, defensively was amazing. The Buckeyes were able to force 21 turnovers and had eight blocks with five of them coming from Mackenzie Hurd.

The duo of Hurd and Ariah Lavy combined for 39 points and both had nice days rebounding as they combined for 14 rebounds. Cayleigh Dupler also had a great night rebounding as she had eight rebounds.

Hurd, Lavy, and Brooklyn Richards were all able to get three steals each as they took advantage of the Raiders turnovers.

Looking ahead, River Valley (5-12) will face off against Meigs at home, for the Buckeyes (11-9) they will look to get hot as they will face off at home against Jackson Thursday tip off is at 7:30.
