PIKETON, Ohio (WOUB) — The Trimble Lady Tomcats took on the South Webster Lady Jeeps in the Southeast 1 district title game.

The Jeeps began the first quarter on fire from behind the arch with Skylar Zimmerman knocking down back-to-back threes. Bri Claxon also nailed a shot from behind the arch making it seem like the Tomcats were in for a long night of triples.

The answer from the Tomcats came from Brianna Orsborne who scored 9 of Trimble’s 16 first quarter points. She was putting on a clinic from the field in the first quarter, but the Tomcat offense was all Jayne Six for the rest of the game.

These two teams seemed to be in a stalemate in the first half; every time South Webster hit a shot, Trimble matched it on the other side of the floor. The score heading into halftime was 27-26 in favor of the Jeeps.

Coming out of halftime Trimble took over on offense. They outscored South Webster 20-8 in the third quarter behind a 10-point quarter from senior center Jayne Six.

The Jeeps attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, but the tomcats were locking them down on defense. Six went off for another 10-point quarter and freshman guard Jaylee Orsborne contributed four points coming from the charity stripe.

The Tomcats got the victory 62-47, achieving their first district title since 2006. Jayne Six finished with a 29-point 13 rebound double-double leading the tomcats in both statistical categories. She shot 10-18 from the floor and scored 20 of her points in the second half when her team needed her the most.

Trimble moves on to the regional semifinals to play the winner of the East District finals between Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans vs Woodsfield Monroe Central. The game will take place on March 3rd at Pickerington North High School with tipoff set for 6:00 PM.
