Sears lifts Ohio past Rice on late shot in first round of CBI

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Mark Sears made a layup with four seconds left to lead Ohio to a 65-64 win over Rice in the College Basketball Invitational first round.

Jason Carter had 26 points to lead the Bobcats.

Carl Pierre led the Owls with 20 points.

Ohio moves on to the quarterfinal round to face Abilene Christian Monday at 8:30 p.m.
