In a week’s time, I’ll be in the midst of a musical pilgrimage down through the Mississippi Delta in honor of my 30th birthday — or is it my 300th? Or maybe my 3rd? Time sure is a funny thing. Tune in 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the legal on air limit of the Bonzo Dog Band and a few other things — I do happen to share a birthday with Duke Ellington, so I’ll likely be pulling out some of his tunes, too.

Excursions, Jazz Motifs w/ Art Cromwell – 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This Saturday’s edition of Excursions: Jazz Motifs celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birthdate of Charles Mingus (4.22.22- 1.5.79), composer, leader, bassist, along with his lifelong contributions to the art of Jazz, from the bebop era and beyond.
Jazz motifs will include:
-The Jazz Workshop’s evolution (55-70)
-Significant Workshop members
-Significant compositions
-Sel. from Mingus’ major works
-Lyricized Music, and music for the spoken word
