WAVELRY, Ohio (WOUB) — Both the Waverly Tigers and the Unioto Sherman Tanks were looking to continue their win streaks, however, only one can keep in it intact.

From the opening kickoff, it was clear that Unioto was ready it keep their streak alive. Starting their game hot, quarterback Newton Hoops would throw a touchdown pass to Maddox Fox to get the scoring started. Unioto would then add to their scoring with a pick six to put them up 12-0.

Unioto would not stop their scoring frenzy there. To put more pressure on Waverly, Unioto would recover an onside kick, setting themselves up for another touchdown pass from Hoops to put them up 18-0 after one quarter.

Waverly wouldn’t go down without a fight though and momentum would shift, as they would get themselves on the board with a touchdown pass from Mason Kelly to Wyatt Crabtree. They would then hold the Unioto offense and come back with their own touchdown, courtesy of running back Jase Herd.

Waverly would recover a forced fumble on Newton Hoops and continue their comeback with another touchdown from Jase Herd, bringing the score to 26-21 going into halftime.

The Tigers’ would then take the lead to open the third quarter and would hold their lead for a while until Unioto struck back.

Once the Sherman Tanks got their lead back, they never looked back. They would slip away from the Tigers and extend their lead even further, taking the game out of the hands of Waverly.

The Unioto Sherman Tanks would extinguish the flame of the Waverly Tigers, leading to a final score of 48-27, in the Sherman Tanks favor. Unioto will look to continue their win streak next week at home versus Huntington. For Waverly, they will look to rebound at home against Chillicothe.
