CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WOUB) — The sun had just begun to set on a crisp autumn evening as the Blue Lions of Washington Courthouse set forth against the hosting Chillicothe Cavaliers, with both teams looking for a window into the conference title race.

Homecoming festivities were in full swing before kickoff, with the announcements of the nominees for king and queen. Both student sections were in full swing as well, with both sides of the stadium being jam packed with fans.

Both teams were ready to do battle, as the majority of the first quarter was all defense, as well as poorly executed offensive plays. The stalemate was finally broken by Washington Courthouse with the reviving touchdown of Tanner Lemaster, who punched his ticket into the endzone with a stunning catch on the inner edge of the pylon.

The story of the first half was the big plays by the Washington Courthouse defense, causing a fumble and an interception to boot. On both turnovers, the Blue Lions capitalized big time putting the ball in the endzone both times on their following drives.

Tanner Lemaster put his name all over the scoresheet during the first half, recording two receiving touchdowns, with his second being a beauty, keeping his feet in at the back of the endzone and securing the 6 points.

Washington Courthouse went on to topple the Cavaliers 24-14, moving them to 7-1 on the year while posting a great 3-0 conference record.

They face Jackson and Miami Trace to round off the season. On the other side of the ball, Chillicothe falls to a 6-2 record, and are now 2-1 in conference play. They face Hillsboro and Jackson to finish off their 2022 campaign.
