ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Art’s ability to elicit emotion is a cornerstone of the universal human experience. Be it joy, sadness or anything in between, art has shaped all of our lives in some way, shape, or form.

This concept is at the heart of the Athens Artists Memorial Project (AAMP), a non-profit organization based out of Athens, OH dedicated to providing musical instruments and lessons to those without the financial means to access them on their own.

The AMPP will hold its first ever annual fundraiser concert at Casa Cantina (6 West State Street) tomorrow 6 p.m.-9 p.m. The show is free and features a silent auction and performances from Frank McDermott, Jerrod Goggins, and Stuart’s Opera House’s After School Music Program.

WOUB’s Nicholas Kobe interviewed the AAMP’s President of the Board of Directors, Doug Brooks, and the AAMP’s treasurer, Roman Warmke, and you can listen to their conversation by clicking “play” in the embedded Soundcloud widget. Follow AAMP on Facebook.
