The Trimble Lady Tomcats snapped their three game losing skid on Friday night when they welcomed the Southern Tornadoes into town.

The Tomcats defeated the Tornadoes by a score of 47-39 to improve to 4-11 on the season.

Despite having just seven players on their bench, the Tomcats through the press at the Tornadoes early and often in order to force turnovers, and get easy buckets in transition. They played equally suffocating defense in the half-court. They made it difficult for Southern to get up open shots, and held them to just 17 points in the first half.

The Tomcats also cleaned up the glass on both ends of the floor, allowing them to capitalize on second chance points on offense, and deny easy put backs on defense.

It’s a much needed win for a team that has had its struggles this season “This is a big game for seeding, hopefully it will move us up a little bit for the tournament draw”, said Trimble Head Coach Joe Richards. “We’re getting there; we just need to put 32 minutes together. A win is a win, we’ll take it.”

Trimble will look to build off of this momentum when they travel to Eastern to take on the Eagles on Thursday, a team that defeated them 59-35 in their first meeting on December 1st.
