Belpre, OH (WOUB)– The Federal Hocking Lancers took to the court along the banks of the Ohio river Tuesday night to take on the hosting Belpre Golden Eagles.

The Lancers come into this game looking to extend their winning streak to a most impressive 15 games.

As soon as this game got going, it was clear what the tempo of the contest would be, high energy, physical basketball. The Lancers and the Golden Eagles would trade blows all throughout the first quarter, as three pointers were the story of this quarter, especially for the Lancers, as they seemed to catch fire from beyond the arc right from the get go.

Going into the second quarter is where the game began to slip away from the Golden Eagles, as Federal Hocking opened up the floor and the ballgame. It seemed that players such as Tariq Cottrill and Andrew Airhart, made it rain from the skies above in this quarter. Tariq would go on to finish with 27 points on the night. Airhart would also finish with double digit points on the night, ending with 13 points, 9 of which came from beyond the three point line.

Cottrill and Airhart were not the only guys who put up double digit points, as senior Caden Chapman finished his night with 15 points, and went 3 of 4 from three point land.

As the halftime break ended, Belpre took to the court with a new style of play, and that caught the Lancers off guard. Junior guard Teriq Cottrill touched a little more on the style of play coming out of the locker room.“Belpre came out with a different momentum, we were up, I think we got a little bit of a big head. We slowed down and we weren’t flowing like we were in the first half”. This shift in momentum caused the game to become a little more close going into the last quarter of play, with Belpre narrowing the lead down to 66-35 in favor of the Lancers.

Federal Hocking then picked up their style of play once again, and went on a nice run to deliver the knockout punch to the Golden Eagles. The starters came off the court to a standing ovation from the supporters with about 2 minutes left in the ball game. The Lancers came away with a huge win on the road, taking this game 74-45 over the Belpre Golden Eagles.

Federal Hocking now improves to 15-2 on the season. The Lancers will host the Eastern Eagles under the lights this Friday night, as they look to continue this magical winning streak, and push it to 16 wins in a row.
