(Stewart, OH) WOUB– The Lady Lancers of Federal Hocking set to do battle with the visiting Huntington Huntsmen in an out of conference matchup Wednesday night in Stewart.

There was a warm breeze in the air for a February evening, but this did not carry over onto the court, as this game was never really able to find its tempo.

Missed opportunities and rebounds was the name of the game for both squads all throughout the contest. If one team looked like they were about to find a rhythm, the other would strike back immediately, not allowing one another to pull away.

In the first half, the Lancer duo of Takira Walker and Bella McVey allowed Federal Hocking to put some points on the board, with Walker working her magic on drives to the paint. McVey was once again found beyond the three point line, as she has made it her home the past few weeks.

However, once Federal Hocking would strike, Huntington would strike right back. When you thought one team would begin to pull away, the other would respond. There would be no other way to put it other than this game looked like a scene out of Rocky.

Coming out of the halftime break, it was more of the same. Missed shots and domination on the glass was key for both sides, as still neither one could find each other’s breaking points.

The fourth quarter is where things started to heat up. Still neither team could pull away, but Federal Hocking possessed a one score advantage over the Huntsmen, as they were up 38-36 with under two minutes left. Huntington had multiple opportunities to find the equalizing points, or even the winning points, but they just could not capitalize. Missed free throws with under 30 seconds remaining from the Lancers, as well as missed shots, gave the Huntsmen this opportunity.

Federal Hocking took home the W on the night, as they have one more regular season game against Meigs this week, then it is onto the playoffs next Wednesday, where they have Alexander coming into town.
