The TVC-Ohio Title Race Comes to a Close

1. Vinton County Vikings | 15-4 (Conf. 10-2)

The Vikings officially wrapped their season up with a TVC-Ohio title last week. After finishing the regular season by winning five straight in-conference games, Vinton County is looking ahead to the playoffs. They drew a matchup against the Warren Warriors (16-6) on Feb. 22nd in Vincent.  

2. Alexander Spartans | 15-6 (Conf. 8-3)

With the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes’ season wrapped, the Spartans can claim sole possession of the second place in the TVC-Ohio with a win on Tuesday against River Valley. After that game, it’s postseason time in Alexander. The Spartans will face off against the Gallia Academy Blue Devils (16-6) on Feb. 22nd in Gallipolis.  

Nelsonville-York Buckeyes logo3. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 15-7 (Conf. 8-4)

Despite losing a double-overtime thriller against Alexander to end their regular season, the Buckeyes have plenty of positives to reflect on before the playoffs. Speaking of the playoffs, Nelsonville-York will take on Wellston in some postseason TVC-Ohio action on Feb. 21st.

Athens Bulldogs4. Athens Bulldogs | 7-14  (Conf. 6-6)

The Bulldogs are locked into fourth place in the TVC-Ohio, but this team is ready for playoff time. Athens has one regular season game remaining, with an out-of-conference game against Logan on Tuesday. Once their regular season is finished, they will prepare for a matchup against the Hillsboro Indians (5-16) on Feb. 18th.  

The winner of that game will have a matchup against the first-seeded Washington Blue Lions (18-4) on Feb. 22nd.  

Meigs Marauders logo5. Meigs Marauders | 6-14 (Conf. 5-7)

Meigs ended their season on a high note with a win against Athens last Friday. They will look to carry this momentum forward against the Chesapeake Panthers (7-15) in their playoff game on Feb. 21st. 

Wellston Golden Rockets logo6. Wellston Golden Rockets | 7-14 (Conf. 4-8

While they are finished with conference play, the Golden Rockets have one last test before the tournament. On Monday, Wellston will head to Coal Grove for a contest against the Hornets. After that, they will head to Nelsonville-York for a postseason game against the Buckeyes on Feb. 21st. 

River Valley Raiders logo7. River Valley Raiders | 1-20 (Conf. 0-11)

River Valley will have one last shot for an in-conference win with their game against Alexander on Tuesday. After that, the Raiders will take on the Jackson Ironmen (11-10) on Feb. 18th in the playoffs.  

 

TVC-Ohio Girls’ Standings  

Nelsonville-York Buckeyes logo1. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 17-5 (Conf. 11-1) 

Nelsonville-York ended their season with two straight wins and a TVC-Ohio title. With the regular season in the rearview mirror, the Buckeyes look to be a strong playoff contender. Their first postseason game is Friday against the Coal Grove Hornets (11-11).  

Athens Bulldogs2. Athens Bulldogs | 14-8 (Conf. 10-2)

In what was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Bulldogs, the team turned lots of heads en route to a second-place finish in the TVC-Ohio. With the momentum of a three-game winning streak, Athens is charging into the playoffs. Their first matchup will be with the Jackson Ironladies (14-7) on Thursday. 

Meigs Marauders logo3. Meigs Marauders | 11-9  (Conf. 8-4)

The Marauders snapped their four-game losing skid with a dominant win over Federal Hocking last week. Meigs will attempt to carry this performance over to their postseason game against the Oak Hill Oaks (0-15) on Wednesday.

River Valley Raiders logo4. River Valley Raiders | 11-9 (Conf. 6-6)

River Valley ended their regular season with a tough loss against South Gallia last week. However, the team will look to implement what they learned from the loss into their playoff game against the Crooksville Ceramics (2-19) on Wednesday.

Wellston Golden Rockets logo5. Wellston Golden Rockets | 8-14 (Conf. 3-9

Wellston topped their season off with a win against Vinton County prior to the playoffs. They will look to carry that momentum into their game against the Westfall Mustangs (5-14) on Wednesday.

6. Vinton County Vikings | 4-17 (Conf. 2-10)

The Vikings struggled to end the season, dropping 13 of their last 14 after a solid start. However, Vinton County will try to make some noise in the playoffs, starting with a game against the Gallia Academy Blue Devils (3-16) on Monday.

7. Alexander Spartans | 1-21 (Conf. 1-11)

On Wednesday, the Spartans will head into the playoffs with a game against the TVC-Hocking’s Federal Hocking Lancers.
