ATHENS, OH – Gridiron Glory (GG) returns to WOUB for its 24th season this Friday, August 18 at 11:30 p.m.

Gridiron Glory is an award winning, weekly 30-minute sports show that airs highlights of high school football games from Southeastern Ohio. The program began in 1999 and airs every Friday night at 11:30 p.m. with repeats on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. during the high school football season. This year’s host is Ohio University Senior Grayson Wolf, a journalism news and information major.

“Grayson has been a consistent top reporter on the show for the last three years,” said WOUB Sports Editor & Studio Production Manager Molly Kennedy. “Grayson brings a welcoming feeling to the broadcast and plans to use his charisma to connect with the fans and students each week when he heads to the ‘Game of the Week’ for his ‘Fan of the Week’ segment. Highlighting the people who support the players off the field is something the show plans to focus on this year.”

This season the show is headed back to its roots by focusing on a smaller number of schools to provide quality coverage.

“We will be covering both TVC’s, the MVL, FAC, OVC, SVC, TSL, SOC, and a few individual teams here and there,” said Kennedy. “Producer Adam Schlosser, a junior journalism news and information major, and I want to make sure Gridiron isn’t an oversaturated broadcast that only spends 90 seconds talking about a game without time to discuss specific players or storylines. With this, we will also be putting the Linemen Love and Hit or Miss segments back into the rotation. These are meant to highlight the players that do not get consistent recognition for their hard work.”

Online Host Cameron Knupp, a senior journalism news and information major, will be producing game preview content during the week leading up to each Friday night broadcast. And for every “Game of the Week” chosen, Wolf and Knupp will have an online preview every Thursday.

GG fans can also continue listening to the podcast created by Associate Producer Parker Kopronica, a sophomore double majoring in news and information and media arts production, called Gridiron Glory: Beyond the Lights that takes a deeper dive into the feature stories that will be done on the broadcast throughout the season. One regular on the podcast will be Senior Reporter Dylan Westmeyer, a journalism news and information major, who will be focusing on stories happening off the grass.

Viewers can find Gridiron Glory on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.  They can also find each week’s program on WOUB’s YouTube channel.
