Washington Court House dominates Buckeye Valley in lopsided matchup

Washington Court House, Ohio (WOUB) – The Buckeye Valley Barons shipped out to Washington High School to play the Washington Blue Lions this Friday night. The Blue Lions came into the game looking like they were not playing around.

Starting the game off, the Blue Lions returned the kick and ended up at the three yard line. With Washington’s Aden “Rocky” Jones slipping through the defense to put the Blue Lions up 7-0 in under 20 seconds. Buckeye Valley attempted to retaliate, with their quarterback Nathan Huss getting sacked twice. Washington’s Mason Coifman snagged the ball out of midair for his first interception of the night, before grabbing another interception by the end of the first quarter. Ending the first quarter with Washington Court House up 7 – 0.

Washington ended the first quarter at their 11 yard line.

Rocky Jones put up his second touchdown of the night, putting the Blue Lions up 14-0 at the beginning of the second. The Barons retaliated with a slant route for a 60 yard dash from Garrett Slater, putting points on the board. A big return from Mason Coifman set the Blue Lions up for a touchdown, giving wide receiver Isaiah Haithcock a perfect setup to score.

Washington High School missed the two-point conversion, putting the score at 20-7 Blue Lions. Mason Coifman managed to grab his third interception of the half. Setting up Rocky Jones for his third touchdown in the half too. The Blue Lions opened a defensive clinic on Buckeye Valley, counting six sacks, four interceptions and multiple tipped passes in the first half of the game. The Buckeye Valley Barons went for a punt to count the score to 27-10 at the end of the first half

Buckeye Valley started the third quarter with the ball before Washington forced a fumble, picking up the lost ball. The third quarter was an aggressive quarter, with both teams coming for blood. The Blue Lions Rocky Jones counted up another interception for the team, setting up Isaiah Haithcock for his second touchdown of the night. Buckeye Valley scored again, ending the third quarter with a score of 34-16 Blue Lions.

The Barons started off the fourth quarter strong with a two-point conversion, putting the score at 34-18 Washington. Washington was a dominant opponent, with Ian Rogers-Wright taking it home twice in the fourth quarter, counting the final score 48-18, with the Washington Blue Lions taking the win to set their record at 3-1.
