CALEDONIA, Ohio (WOUB) — It was Rally in the Valley night, at Raider Nation as the Meigs Marauders traveled to River Valley to face the Raiders on Friday night.

The Marauders and Raiders have both started off winless, and we’re both looking for a rally on Friday night

The Marauders would be the ones to strike first. Quarterback Griffin Cleland made an impressive throw on the run to hit Jake Martin for the toe-tap touchdown to break the scoreless tie.

The scoring wouldn’t stop there. After another Raiders punt, the Marauders running back Conley Burnem would take things into his own hands. Burnem would absolutely burn down the Raider defense with 80 and 40-yard touchdowns, giving the Marauders an 18-0 after two more missed two-point conversions.

As the Raiders offense kept stalling, Cleland would keep finding his receivers. He would find his tight end Dustin Vance to add to the lead.  A two-point conversion would make the score 26-0 after one.

In the second quarter, River Valley started to make some progress on offense. The Raiders would finally have their first big break, coming from a powerful 20-yard run from running back Colton Bradley to put the Raiders in the red zone. The drive was then capped off when Evan Wilbur rushed into the end zone for six.

Cleland would then lead a five-minute drive right before half, which was ended by a Cleland one-yard touchdown. The score at the half was Marauders 32, Raiders six.

The Marauders would then tack on another score right before the end of the game, and add on another two-point conversion.

The final score is Marauders 40, Raiders six. The strong running attack from the Meigs County Marauders was the true testament to a huge win to break a slow 0-4 start.

The Raiders after this loss moved to 0-5 on the season and will face Wellston in their next matchup. The Marauders catch their first win of the season and move to 1-4. They will face Nelsonville-York in their next matchup.
