ALEXANDER, OHIO (WOUB)- The 1-12 Eastern Lady Eagles traveled to Alexander to face off against the 6-5 Spartans in a mid-season out of conference matchup. The young Eagles team are continuing to look for their identity as a team, while Spartans look to improve their record heading into the later half of the season. The Final Score was Alexander 67, Eastern 30.

Quarter one started off with Alexander creating multiple turnovers thanks to their man-press defense. Kaylee Hundall led the scoring attack for the Spartans early, as they took a 21-11 lead against the Eagles heading into the second frame.

As we turn to the second quarter, the Spartans started to run away with the ball game. Their physical defense and second chance points helped create a 21-7 run throughout the entire quarter, backed by Mckenna Moore and Hundall. Hope Reed added 12 points for Eagles as both teams headed into half.

The second half was more of the same for both sides of the ball. Alexander would continue to put the pressure on, while the Eagles would continue to stall out on offense, leading to a running clock. The Spartans would close out this game, winning by 37 points.

The Spartans led a balanced scoring attack, with 3 girls, (Kaylee Hundall, Mckenna Moore, and Lily Ryder) all scoring above double digits. Hope Reed added 16, accounting for over half of the Eagles points. The Spartans move to 7-5, and face Crooksville on Thursday, while the Eagles move to  1-13, and will face Wellston Tuesday night.
