STEWART, Ohio (WOUB) — The Federal Hocking Lancers hosted the Eastern Eagles in a Tuesday night TVC-Hocking clash. The Lancer went into this game atop the TVC-Hocking while the Eagles were at the bottom. Despite the differences in position, both teams came into this game looking to prove something. Ultimately, Federal Hocking would defend their home court walking away with a 63 to 23 victory.

If you just watched the first four minutes of the game, you would not assume that the Lancers would win by such a margin or win at all. The Eagles came out of the gate hot, starting the game on a 7 to 0 run. This forced coach Amos to take a timeout in front of a stunned Lancer crowd.

After a slow start from Federal Hocking, they would start to find their groove off the back of scoring from Brenlee Cottrill and Takira Walker. After a quick start from Eastern, Federal Hocking ended the 1st quarter up 14 to 8.

The second quarter is where the Lancers really started to show their muscle. Federal Hocking was successfully clogging the passing lanes and hitting their threes to extend their lead. Addison Jackson star was shining as she went 3 for 3 behind the arc in the second quarter. She would end the game 4 for 4. Federal Hocking outscored Eastern 25 to 5 in the second period to end the half with a 39 to 13 lead.

The second half would contain more of the same. The Eagles would put together some solid offensive runs, but it would not be enough for them to stage a comeback. Despite strong performances by Mackenzie Robertson and Sydney Mora, the Eagles would be no match for the Lancers. Brenlee Cottrill was the MVP of the game as she picked up 21 points and 6 steals.

Looking for a bounce back performance, the Eastern Eagles will travel to Glouster to face the Trimble Tomcats on Wednesday at 6:30pm.

As for the Federal Hocking Lancers, they look to extend their win streak to 6 when they host the Frontier Cougars next Monday, 7:00pm tip off.
