Belpre soars past Eastern in decisive Victory

BELPRE, OH (WOUB)-
The Eastern Lady Eagles (1-16) took a trip to the (7-7) Belpre Golden Eagles. The Eagles are
having a rough season with only winning 1 game, while the Golden Eagles are going .500. The
final score tonight was a blow out that ended with Belpre earning 63, while Eastern trailed far
behind with a total 18 points. The Eastern girls will take on Trimble at home next Thursday. The
Belpre Golden Eagles will take on Morgan at their home court on Monday.

The first quarter started off with Belpre flying to grab offensive rebounds that led to second
chance points. The referees were not missing a call, leading to Eastern having 5 fouls within the
first 5 minutes of the game. Eastern took advantage even with the foul trouble having good ball
movement to lead to easy points. Belpre had a 18-11 lead headed into the second quarter.

As we turned to the second quarter, things got rough for The Lady Eagles. Belpre started to play
zone defense, which led to transition points on the other end for girls such as Haley Alloway and
Chep Parsons. Eastern continued to get dominated on the boards with Grace Bills collecting the
majority of their rebounds. Belpre went on a 21-4 run to end the second quarter with a 39-15
lead.

Going into the second half with Belpre anticipating passes and Eastern getting out rebounded,
there was no coming back for The Lady Eagles. In the third quarter Eastern did not get any
points on the board, As the fourth and final quarter continued, point guard Hope Reed stepped in
making 75% of her foul shots. Belpre began playing keep away in the fourth quarter and the
Eastern girls were progressively getting more tired. Those were the only points made by Eastern
in the second half, ending the game Belpre.

The Belpre Golden Eagles scored as a team with 3 players scoring double digits, Julia Way,
Haley Halloway, and Gracie Bills.
