Glouster, Ohio (WOUB)  Trimble faced off at home against Belpre on Monday night.

The game started out close, and neither could pull away during key points in the game. The Tomcats played hard defense and didn’t let many points through. The game went into overtime at 45 to 45, but in the end the Tomcats came out on top 52 to 50.

In the first quarter, both teams were off to a rough start. Heavy defense from the Tomcats threw the Golden Eagles for a loop. Mckenzie Eing scored in the last seconds to make it 8 to 11 in the first quarter.

Going into the second, the Tomcats defense was strong but Belpre’s Alivia Harrington finally found a way to break through. Harrington rebounded her own shot before hitting the next, and her points were the only few scored that quarter.

Coming out of the half, the Tomcats found themselves at the line, and they didn’t leave it often. The Tomcats had a total of 28 attempts at the line. Ten of which came from McKenzie Eing.

In the fourth, both teams had a total of 17 attempts at the line, and three of the five starters for Belpre fouled out. A hard fought fourth led to overtime, and ten of the twelve points from either team were from the line. Tomcats coming out on top, ending 52-50.

After a hard fought win for the Tomcats, they look onto Federal Hocking on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Belpre will look on to a matchup with Waterford on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
