Ohio Arts Council seeks nominees for Ohio Heritage Fellowship Award

ATHENS, Ohio – Every year the Ohio Arts Council grants one Ohio Heritage Fellowship Award, recognizing folk and traditional artists who reflect “Ohio’s living cultural heritage.”

The OAC is currently seeking nominations for this year’s award.

Don MacRostie of Athens County was awarded the Ohio Heritage Fellowship Award in 2022 in the category of Material Culture for his work as a luthier.  The logo for the Ohio Arts Council.

The awards are $5,000 and can be given in three categories: Traditional Performing Arts (music, dance, verbal art), Material Culture (craft traditions and trades), and Community Leadership (advocating for the folk and traditional artists). Recipients are recognized at a public event.

All nominees must be residents of Ohio and must be living at the time of their nomination. Posthumous awards and self-nomination are not permitted.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. April 1.
