ATHENS, OH – WOUB will be on the air holding its Spring Radio Pledge Drive April 24 and 25 but will accept donations early starting today (April 18). We’re asking you to show your support for public media by making a donation now.

Give Now

“We need current members and people who have never donated before to step up during this drive. Our goal is to have 30 people, who are not currently WOUB supporters, donate between April 18 and April 27,” said WOUB Community Engagement and Membership Manager Cheri Russo. “Thanks to several generous donors who created a matching fund, there is also a special 3X match for donations made by new donors up to $4500. That means a donation from someone who has never supported WOUB before will be tripled!”

Member support is crucial for WOUB to be able to continue to provide the quality public media programming people in this region have come to rely on. Listeners who spend quality time with WOUB propel our programs and services forward by taking the next logical step: funding our mission through financial support.

WOUB radio hosts, staff members, and friends will be on the air for just two days (April 24 and 25) during the drive asking for your support to limit program interruptions.

“We need to ask members to support our programming, but we want to limit pledge drive interruptions to that programming as much as possible,” said WOUB General Manager Mark Brewer. “We hope our listeners will decide to become supporters or to continue their support of their public radio station during this drive.”

Latitude 39 in Athens has also generously donated two items to our Spring Radio Pledge Drive. At the end of the drive, a random drawing will be held for a cooking class for two in Jefferson Marketplace’s Culinary Studio where participants will learn how to make gnocchi from scratch as well as how to cook and serve it in red sauce; along with a Meal for Two Voucher that has a value of up to $40. Everyone who donates or reaches out to put their name in – will be entered into the random drawing. Latitude 39 is a pub-style restaurant situated in the heart of the Ohio University Athens Campus, on the first floor of Baker Center.

Donors can make their pledge by calling or texting the word “GIVE” to 877-845-9600 or donating online at woubradio.pledgecart.org/give.

“Donations from our members directly support the local and national news programming that help bring important information to our region, as well as the regional music and entertainment programming,” said Brewer. “WOUB has an important role in this community, and we hope our listeners will support that work during this pledge drive.”
