Currently the White House is preparing a rescissions package that would claw back previously approved funding—putting the future of public media in serious jeopardy. Vital federal funding – just about $1.60 per person each year – is at risk. Eliminating public media could disrupt everything you rely on. WOUB provides essential services — from lifesaving emergency alerts to local programming and educational resources for families. If these services are lost, so is your access to trusted information and connection.

Appalachia Semiconductor Education and Technical Ecosystem (ASCENT)

June 23/24 – ASCENT STEAM In & Out of the Classroom

June 26/27 – ASCENT Fundamentals of Advanced Manufacturing

The Appalachian Semiconductor Education and Technical Ecosystem (ASCENT) is a program that is creating workforce development and training programs to cultivate the next generation of skilled technical professionals for Ohio’s emerging semiconductor industry. ASCENT participates in many programs around our region to provide support for STEM learning. This summer ASCENT is offering teacher professional development to focus on integrating STEM learning into the classroom and on teaching advanced manufacturing integration.

Workshops will explore tools like CircuitScribe, Micro:bit, Makey-Makey, and Lego education modules. The Advanced Manufacturing workshops will include visits to manufacturing sites along with ideas for classroom integration.

Activities and tools are mapped to Ohio Learning Standards. Participants can earn contact hours or grad credit.

On our Minds Podcast

New Season

“On our Minds” Podcast has a new eight episode season exploring the theme “Who Inspires you?”

Episodes feature student journalists from across the country in conversion with individuals they look up to in their local communities. The first episode, exploring how friends inspire, is out now.

Episodes will be released every Wednesday through June 4.
