ATHENS, OH – The WOUB Learning Lab is bringing Daniel Tiger to the Ohio Valley Museum of Discovery (67 Columbus Road, Athens) as part of its Be My Neighbor Day celebration on June 7.

The event which provides attendees free access to the museum’s hands-on STEM exhibits runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event includes many exciting activities including: creative fun with the Crafty Art Bus, eye health education from iSEE with Vision to Learn (Vision Van) and the Realeyes program, and a special visit from an officer with the Ohio University Police Department at 11 a.m. to share tips on being a great community member. Attendees also will have the opportunity to take home PBS KIDS resources and books.

“I am excited to organize a Be My Neighbor Day to celebrate kindness, learning, and giving back. I am especially excited to welcome new community partners like the Crafty Art Bus and OUPD, to add to the experience,” said WOUB Learning Lab Early Childhood Education Specialist Lisa Kinnard. “I am also grateful for the return of the Vision Van and Realeyes program, continuing their support for children and eye health.”

Attendees can also bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Athens County Food Pantry and support neighbors in need. Kids can also stop by our Kindness Card Station to create a card for a friend, family member, or community helper.

“In the spirit of being good neighbors, we’re hosting a food pantry donation drive and a kindness card station, giving families meaningful ways to give back and brighten someone’s day,” said Kinnard.
