CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WOUB) —It’s Week 3, and the stadium is packed for the Amanda-Clearcreek Aces at the Zane Trace Pioneers. The Aces were looking good throughout the entire game, and the Aces were no match for the Pioneers, winning 25-7.
The first drive for the Aces was a successful one as RB Tommy Stai took multiple carries for huge gains and a touchdown to top it off. The Pioneers struggled for the first half, as Brice Johnson fumbled the ball as he was tackled. The Aces recovered the ball and took advantage of the field position by scoring another touchdown, this time by RB Bodie Martin.
The Aces went up 13-0 at the beginning of the second quarter, and the Pioneers were looking to get back into the game. The Aces’ defense came up clutch, as the Pioneers missed two monumental passing opportunities to get back in the game. Thanks to the Aces’ defense, their offense stormed down the field, and QB Carter Madison threw a dime to TE Mason Williams for a touchdown.
The Aces went up 19-0, leaving the Pioneers to look for some strand of rhythm. After RB Brice Johnson trucked down a defender for a first down and a huge gain, it was looking like the Pioneers found their spark, though it would be lost quickly with a fumbled snap.
At the beginning of the second half, the Aces were looking to build on their lead. Meanwhile, the Pioneers were looking to begin to form a comeback. After a scoreless third quarter, the Pioneers got on the board first with QB Gunnar McCullough rushing in for the touchdown. Almost immediately, the Aces scored a fourth touchdown, sealing the game 25-7.
The Aces’ offense looked on point, and took advantage when they needed to. Not only was the Aces’ defense good, but the Pioneers’ offense struggled to make the plays they needed to. Next week the Aces look to continue their streak as they take on Bloom-Carroll.
