Rock Hill upsets Fairland on the road

PROCTORVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) – The Fairland Dragons hosted the Rock Hill Redmen to begin OVC play. After trailing all game, the Redmen scored two times in five minutes to pull off a shocking upset over the reigning OVC Champions, 33-32.
The Dragons started with the ball and worked their way down the field, finishing off the drive with a 9-yard touchdown run by RB Xander Collins. The teams would then trade interceptions with Fairland’s Ford Rickard and Rock Hill’s Braylon McClellan, each grabbing one for their teams.
Rock Hill started the second quarter strong with a rushing touchdown of its own by QB Dallin Cox. However, on the kickoff after the touchdown, Collins dashed the ball 75 yards for a return touchdown to help the Dragons get the lead back. Fairland struck again as QB Owen Burcham and WR Conner Black would connect for an 82-yard touchdown. Rock Hill failed again to make its drive count as they fumbled the ball on the Fairland 12-yard line. Fairland attempted to make a quick big play drive to finish out the half but instead turned over the ball on an interception to finish out the half.
The Dragons would still hold control through the game, leading the whole time until the last 5 minutes. Fairland managed to score two touchdowns in a matter of minutes and take the lead for the first time in the whole game by 1 point. But the Dragons didn’t give up, driving their way down the field into the red zone. With 5 seconds left, Fairland would attempt a field goal but missed, leading to Rock Hill securing the win.
The 33-32 upset brings the Redmen to an impressive 3-1 on the year and drops the Dragons to 1-3 after a very successful season the year prior. Rock Hill hopes to stay hot next week against South Point in another conference matchup. As for the Dragons, they hope to rebound against Gallia Academy next week.
