BALTIMORE, Ohio (WOUB) – After getting the privilege to go watch the Logan Elm Braves take on the Liberty Union Lions in Baltimore, we were ready to see a good game and both teams delivered. Logan Elm picked up their first win of the season against Liberty Union, 21-14.

Starting the game out strong the Braves kicked off to the Lions, forced a punt on defense, then drove down and scored with a short touchdown run by Austin Holbrook, 7-0 Logan Elm 5:07 in the first quarter. Cooper Meachem and Liberty Union drove down the field in response with Meachem using his legs to even the score, but immediately proceeding Connor Kint takes a kickoff all the way to the paint to take the lead right back; 14-7 Braves 8:07 in the first half. Some back and forth later halts when Camden Ebert recovered a Meachem fumble giving the ball and momentum to Logan Elm where Holbrook would then find Hint to end the first half with a Braves touchdown 21-7 Logan Elm.

The story of the second half was a lot of strong defense neither team could move the ball until the Lions broke a scoreless drive streak cutting the score gap to 7 when Logan Chase punched the ball into the endzone; 21-14 Braves 5:28 in the fourth quarter. With the game drawing to a close and the ball in Logan Elm’s hands it looked almost over until the Lions defense forced a fumble and got the recovery. Less than two minutes on the clock being all Liberty Union has to work with is made to be no problem as they quickly drive down the field, but with four seconds and no timeouts left the Lions run one last play and get stopped with no time on the clock; final score 21-14 Braves.

This was a hard fought game with hard nosed defenses that didn’t let up much however Logan Elm was able to hold on to the lead for all four quarters and that gave them the win over Liberty Union.
