DRESDEN, Ohio (WOUB) — The Tri-Valley Scotties (8-2, 6-0) hosted the John Glenn Little Muskies (4-6, 1-4) on senior night for a chance of being crowned the MVL-Big champions. After a dominant performance on both sides of the ball, the Scotties win their conference for the fourth year in a row with a final score of 42-7.

The game would start off sluggish, with both teams being forced to punt it away on their first possession. The first score of the night wouldn’t come until right before the end of  first quarter, as Little Muskies quarterback Owen Edwards attempted to pass in the middle of the field, but was picked off by Scotties senior Ryan Lamonica, who took it all the way to the house for a touchdown. Scotties would go for the two-point conversion, and got it to take the early lead 8-0.

With another John Glenn punt to start the second quarter, Tri-Valley wasted no time as on the first play of the drive, sophomore running back Leevi Wade found a hole in the Little Muskie defense and ripped off a 78-yard run all the way to the house for an extra six points. The Scotties offense would find its way back onto the field and pick up their first passing touchdown of the night from junior Lucca Gargasz. History then repeated itself, as Lamonica made the crucial play of the night, picking off Edwards at the 3-yard line and ran 97 yards for his second pick six of the night. With that, Tri-Valley sat at a comfortable 29-0 lead going into the half.

“Ryan’s a rangy guy in the defensive secondary, so we know he can make plays”, said head coach Cameron West when asked about his thoughts on his seniors performance.

Coming out at half, the Scotties got right back to work, handing the rock off to Wade at the 8-yard line for his second score of the night to grow the deficit.

Jumping to the fourth quarter, John Glenn would find themselves in scoring position for the first time all game, and Edwards connected with sophomore Jensen Parry for a passing touchdown. With a running clock against them, the Little Muskies were unable to score again, and it was the Scotties who walked away from this matchup as the winners, with a final score of 42-7.

With the win and after a tremendous regular season performance, Tri-Valley are now the MVL-Big champions for the fourth year in a row. The Scotties look to keep the momentum going for practice next week as playoffs loom closer.
