BELPRE, Ohio (WOUB) — Waterford was able to secure their eighth win of the season and take home the conference title after defeating Belpre 57 – 14.

Even with points stacking up for Waterford, Belpre did not give up the fight and was able to recover a fumble but were held off again by Waterford defense.
The second quarter was similar to the first with domination by Waterford. Hayden Jones for Waterford was able to maneuver through the Belpre defense, but a flag would set them back. The skills of Pottmeyer and Weston Fairchild helped Waterford to recover the lost ground and find the endzone once more, now for a score of 28 – 0.
Zimmer had a 24-yard carry, pushing defensive players off one-by-one, setting up his team for yet another touchdown. Belpre did not maintain possession for long after before Waterford player Brayden Smith got the ball again and found the endzone. Waterford now up 43 – 0.
The rest of the first half continued to be dominated by Waterford who were very familiar with the end zone by now, ending the half with a big lead of 57 – 0.
Belpre started the second half with the ball and did not let up, setting up Alex Parker to get not one, but two touchdowns. These points were hard fought and were the only points secured by Belpre with a score now at 57 – 14. Belpre defense worked through to the very end of the game to keep Waterford out of the end zone this half and they succeeded.
Both teams had a fire lit under them to propel their teams and to keep warm as plays and flags were passed across the field. Belpre was able to continue gaining ground, pushing past Waterford defense.
The Golden Eagles kept the Wildcats in their talons for the rest of the game but ultimately could not come back against the lead secured by Waterford in the first half, ending the game 57 – 14 and ending the conference with all wins.
